NORTH shore young people can now get free help, with the opening of Headspace in Chatswood.
The new Headspace centre, at 30 Devonshire St, offers 12 to 25 year olds free general and mental health support, assistance with alcohol and other drug problems, employment and social support, as well as information for young people and their families.
The centre is headed by Ashley MacPherson, who said she had already seen a demand for these services on the north shore.
“Young people need a place where they feel welcome and can access the right kind of support at the right time,” Ms MacPherson said.
“The centre has been operational since late May and already we have seen a number of young people come through our doors.
“So it’s obvious to us how important this centre is and will be to the local community.”
Headspace CEO Chris Tanti said it was a place young people who were going through a tough time could find someone to talk to.
Chatswood’s new Headspace centre is part of the Federal Government’s $200 million investment to establish 90 new Headspace services across Australia.
North Shore First Aid would like to congratulate Headspace for the support work it is doing with youth and mental health. To help others why not complete a North Shore First Aid – Apply First Aid, Perform CPR or Asthma and Anaphylaxis course.
